We promote degrowth
for a world that prioritizes dignity, care, and interdependence.

We work with communities, researchers, organizers, and social movements in transitioning to post-growth:
building relational societies beyond and against a fixation on endless economic growth.

Post-growth research examines the root causes of systemic issues, drawing on historical, global, and decolonial perspectives. 

We believe in the transformative power of knowledge. We uplift the many possibilities for life that emerge when societies value interdependence over infinite economic growth. 

Today’s dominant political and financial systems prioritize profit and GDP growth above all else, deepening inequality, increasing precarity, and eroding democracy. At the same time, this growth imperative is destabilizing Earth’s systems – accelerating climate change, degrading ecosystems, and propelling the sixth mass extinction of planetary life.

Today’s crises are not new, nor have they been created by chance.

The dominance of economic growth is rooted in systems of enclosure and impoverishment shaped by a colonial worldview of anthropocentric white supremacy that continues to drive imperialism, genocide, and ecological degradation – with ever more aspects of society being organized to serve capital accumulation. 

None of this is inevitable. 

Economic systems are historically produced and therefore can be changed.

Post-growth is collective liberation from the violence and inequalities of growth-fixated economics – combining degrowth, decolonization, and demilitarization. Post-growth is a commitment to mutually beneficial ways of living and relating.

We support degrowth as a democratic, equitable, and ecological pathway for a just transition toward mutually enhancing relationships with the whole community of life.

    Conducting and sharing critical research and information to support communities in struggle.

    Creating educational materials on degrowth for use in a range of grassroots, collective, and institutional spaces of learning.

    Building network relationships and community connections to strengthen degrowth movements across North America.

  • Communications & Advocacy

    Reimagining prosperity, possibility, purpose, wealth, and wellbeing – through media work, outreach, and public engagement.

  • Post-Growth Circles

    Bringing together motivated groups in different sectors to strengthen networks of knowledge and information sharing, foster collaborations, and support movements for transformative social change.
